Back to school and headshot happy hour events!
Hey, friends!
Well…after a fairly uneventful summer break, we’re slowly slipping back into routines over here.
Our summers have always been pretty laid back and routine: pool passes and several days a week at the pool, quick road trip to Texas to visit family, trips to various ice cream shops, and we typically finish summer with a long weekend in Michigan and Warren Dunes.
This summer was different. Three of us got pool passes but we didn’t even make it to the pool enough times to pay for those passes. We did make a very quick trip to Texas and got to see a few family members but not everyone. Sadly, we didn’t make it Michigan at all…we usually make it there at least 2 times. We did hit some ice cream shops though…we aren’t complete monsters!
It feels like this is just a natural transition from having “little” kids to having tweens/teens and I’m not sure how I’m feeling about it.
Time is strange…
Anyway…back to your regularly scheduled programming.

the official first day of Spring...
and it felt a lot like winter...
I had an early morning family shoot at Millennium Park and despite the temps being below 40, everyone was cheerful & ready to go! The family of 4 (almost 5) powered through and I had a great time using the park as my backdrop.

The weather was amazing yesterday, so I took advantage of that & trekked out west to photograph little A's 1 year pictures. We walked through some mud & got a little dirty, but everyone was having a good time. This is the second time I've photographed this little gem & I actually got a couple of smiles this time around!

morning head shot session & a change of plans

Head shots don't have to be boring. In fact, they can be a lot of fun. I had plans for an outdoor, location shoot this morning, but the weather had other ideas. Instead, we found a lovely indoor space & I got to spend the morning with Maeve, creating some head shots that I hope she will love. She has been involved in theatre from a young age, so it makes sense that she is a natural in front of the camera.

Sam is old enough to tell me that he doesn't like photos, but I still have time with Evangeline. Even though one kid was tired & one wasn't feeling well, they put up with me long enough to get a few snaps.
catching up
I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the editing tunnel & that is a beautiful thing. Let's just say that 7 shoots in 1 weekend might have been a bit overboard...but it's all good and now it's on to the next round! I'm trying to complete all edits from this past weekend so I can head into next weekend with a clean slate. I'm looking forward to a laid back weekend of make-up soccer games and a manageable schedule of 3 shoots. The weather has really been on my side lately...and I've been so lucky to be able to meet and photograph so many great families! Here's a peek from 2 recent family shoots...
